The plan for this week's meetings:
ASAP - Wednesday at the latest:
- Count of how many houses we'll be making
- Please respond on here with your name and how many you're making
- If you want to make one but not take it home, the Scouts will be taking them to Castle Point Veterans Hospital
Wednesday evening (time TBA):
- Meet at church to make gingerbread and frosting-glue - they have 3 ovens
- Please bring rolling pins and stand mixers if you have them
- Patrick will supply the raw materials
Thursday night: 7PM - whenever
- Scouts are holding a holiday party
- There will be a large sub sandwich to eat
- Please bring a side dish, dessert, or drink to share
- Please bring a couple samples of your favorite candy to share to put on the houses
- If possible, announce on the list what you're bringing so we don't get too much of the same kind
- Plan is to place walls, wait 1/2 hour to solidify, place roof, wait 1/2 hour, and then decorate from there.
That's exactly what I'm planning to bring.
I figure we should use sandwich size bags so that there are more bags available. If somebody needs more, they can grab a second bag.
Put me in for 2 as well. We'll make a bunch of frosting/mortar and we'll bring plastic bags for piping. We can probably bring some food coloring, too. It's usually best to color the icing as you need it, though, so we'll be bringing all white.
I'm planning on making two. I'm assuming I'm going to be an idiot and destroy at least one of them so two sounds good. Since I've never done one before will all the frosting needed be available already? Are we coloring the frosting at all?
I'm probably going to bring something chocolate mint or peanut butter cup related. I'll let you know on Wednesday.
I'll be bringing something snack worthy to Thursday night.
