Calling all would-be Wrenchers!
We need your support!
Of course, if we can't get your support, we will settle for your feedback. As the time to get into a space grows nearer, we need to establish what our real budget is. I will be hosting a game show at the June 15th meeting entitled "What's it worth?" The rules of the game show are as follows:
- Round One Contestants write down a number and place it in the Magical Bin of AnonymityTM. This number will represent the amount of cash with which you will be willing to part in order to get this thing rolling. These numbers will be tallied and the total recorded. Contestants will be awarded one hundred points for placing a number into the MBoA. When the round is complete, the MBoA will be vented into a parallel dimension, setting us up for...
- Round Two Contestants write down a number and place it in the Magical Bin of AnonymityTM. This number will represent the amount of cash with which you will be willing to part on a monthly basis in order to help sustain the Wrench. This is vital, as it will help us determine how much we can actually afford to spend on infrastructure. These numbers will be tallied and the total recorded. Contestants will be awarded one hundred points for placing a number into the MBoA. When the round is complete, the MBoA will be vented into a parallel dimension and the game will conclude.
- Awards Prizes will be awarded in the form of copious thanks to all the top scorers. Thanks cannot be redeemed for cash. No purchase necessary. You may enter by email, or by verbal communication with myself, or by authorized proxy. One entry per person. I'm not a lawyer. Inventing more language here is hard. I'm sure you get the point, if you're even still reading this.
Seriously, the important thing here is not to needle people until they commit to giving us money. We simply need to know how much money we're dealing with so that we don't commit to something we can't sustain. I will appreciate feedback of "$0" as much as I will appreciate feedback of "$1000". I will make every effort to maintain anonymity for anyone who puts a number in the hat.
A corrollary to all of this is that we need as many participants as possible in order to make this successful. If you can make it, please do. If you can't make it, please contact me or designate a proxy. If you know anyone who is interested in seeing Squidwrench go forward (for whatever reason), encourage them to attend this meeting or designate a proxy. How many numbers I get back is just as important as the total dollar amount, so spread the word.
Indeed, the 15th is correct. I've updated the post.
Game show hostin' ain't easy....
I suspect the 15th is the one Thor Sajak-Trebek was referring to.
Umm, I was never invited to a June 16th meeting, only the 15th and 10th. So which one is it?
